It has evolved from the heritage of human concern for a socially acceptable appearance and healthy functional life. Prosthodontics, Crown and Bridge and Implantology department caters to a vast number of patient treatment requirements. We are the ones who fill in the missing pieces-restoring smiles young and old! Prosthodontics is that branch of Dentistry pertaining to the restoration & maintenance of oral function, comfort, appearance & health of the patient by the restoration of natural teeth and or replacement of missing teeth & craniofacial tissue with artificial substitutes.
A prosthodontist is a dentist who:
- Specializes in the esthetic restoration and replacement of teeth
- Restores optimum appearance and function to your smile
Prosthodontics is also the dental speciality concerned with the diagnosis, treatment planning, rehabilitation and maintenance of patients with complex oro-dental and maxillofacial clinical conditions using bio-compatible substitutes, including implants, to replace missing or deficient teeth and/or craniofacial tissues. Various types of prostheses such as complete and removable partial dentures, laminates, ceramic crown and bridges and implant retained prostheses are fabricated.
The department of Prosthodontics at Vydehi Institute of Dental Sciences and Research Centre has a well established clinical facility with fully loaded dental chairs and the required working armamentarium. We also have a well equipped plaster and acrylic lab with dispensers and acrylizers in a good number to suffice the need of learning for our students.
We have a fully air conditioned state-of-the-art casting and ceramic facility with induction casting machine, furnace for metal ceramics, laser pin setter , all ceramic furnace to state a few. We have an established post graduate training section with best of clinical and working facilities in line with infection control protocol .Most importantly, here we work with multiple goals and strive to achieve them. Though the teaching of the students about the art and science involved in the treatment modalities, material sciences etc is the priority, we do cater to the varied Prosthodontics needs of the surrounding NRI, urban ,semi urban and rural populations.
